Wherever sign-up gets stuck, jump to that question. We've gathered the most-asked OKX (formerly OKEx — same company) sign-up questions on one page — from verification codes not arriving and wrong nationality, to whether you can add invite code OK2707 later, what to do if KYC is rejected, and how to recover lost 2FA — 18 in all. Read whichever one hits your problem; no need to start from the top.
If you want the full sign-up steps rather than single-point Q&A, start with the full sign-up guide; this page is all about "what to do when you're stuck."
✅ How to use this page Below is grouped by "Sign-Up → KYC → Account & Login → Other." Each item is one question and answer — expand it for the answer. The most important one, spoiled up front: invite code OK2707 can only be entered once, at sign-up, and generally can't be added later.
01Sign-Up
From sign-up to buying crypto, roughly how long does it take?
Registering the account itself is 1–2 minutes; KYC verification is usually a few minutes to tens of minutes, longer at peak times; P2P deposits depend on how fast the merchant releases, generally a few minutes. If it goes smoothly, you can go from zero account to your first coin within half an hour.
What if the verification code never arrives?
For email, check spam and promotions first; for SMS, wait a minute or two then tap resend, or switch between email/phone; if still nothing, try a different network. It's mostly a delay or a block by the carrier/mailbox, not a problem with the account itself.
I forgot to enter invite code OK2707 at sign-up — can I add it later?
Generally no. The invite code binds once, at the moment of sign-up, and usually can't be added or changed afterward. So if you haven't registered yet, make sure to
open the collapsed invite-code field at the bottom of the sign-up page and enter OK2707 before submitting — it affects the fee rebate on every future trade. For how to enter it and confirm it took, see
How to Enter Invite Code OK2707.
What if I picked the wrong country / region?
The country/region you pick at sign-up should match the ID you'll use for KYC. If you haven't verified and spot a mistake, check account settings to see if you can change it; if it already affects verification, you may need to contact official support. The easiest path is to choose honestly based on the ID you hold at sign-up.
How many OKX accounts can one person have?
A verified account is tied to your identity, so one person can usually have only one KYC-verified account. Don't try to register multiples to farm promotions — it easily triggers risk controls and account limits. Just use one account normally.
Does it cost money to register on OKX?
Registering and verifying are
free. The only money you spend is in two places: the cost of depositing and buying crypto (the P2P spread or Express Buy channel fee), and trading fees. The latter rebate partly if you bind invite code OK2707 — see
How Fees Work.
The page keeps failing / submitting does nothing — what do I do?
First confirm you're on the official domain okx.com (don't enter via unfamiliar links); then switch networks, clear cache, or try a different browser/app. Still nothing? Come back a bit later — sometimes it's temporary peak-time turbulence.
Can people in my country register and use it? What are the risks?
Crypto rules vary by country — check your local laws before you act. In some places, personal participation carries legal or tax implications, so decide carefully based on your own situation, at your own risk. This site only provides information and is not encouragement or advice of any kind.

02KYC Verification
How long does KYC verification take?
Usually a few minutes to tens of minutes, longer at peak times. After submitting, wait patiently — don't resubmit over and over. With a clear ID photo and matching information, most pass on the first try.
What do I do if KYC is rejected?
Rejections are usually one of these:
glare/blur on the ID photo, corners cut off, info not matching what you entered, or face recognition failing. Re-shoot as prompted — lay the ID flat, even lighting, no glare; do face recognition in a bright spot, no beauty filter — and resubmit. For a case-by-case breakdown, see
How Overseas Chinese Pass KYC.
Can I verify with a passport? Is a local ID required?
Yes. OKX's KYC supports a passport (usually a high pass rate) and various other government IDs — it's not limited to a local ID. The key is that your nationality, ID, and the region you picked at sign-up all match.
Face recognition keeps failing — what do I do?
Move to a well-lit spot, take off your mask and glasses, skip the beauty-filter camera, and keep your face steady in the frame. A laggy network can also fail it, so use a stable connection. A try or two usually does it.
03Account & Login
What if I forget my login password?
Tap "Forgot password" on the login page, verify via the email or phone you bound at sign-up, and reset it. This is exactly the advantage an exchange account has over a Web3 wallet — a forgotten password is recoverable.
I switched phones — how do I keep logging in?
Install the OKX app on the new phone and log in with your username/password + verification code. But note: if you turned on Google Authenticator (2FA), migrate or unbind the authenticator before switching phones, or you'll get stuck at the 2FA step. See the next item.
I lost my Google Authenticator (2FA) / it's gone after changing phones — what now?
If you saved the
backup key from when you bound it, just re-add it in the authenticator on the new device; if you didn't, you'll go through the official
identity verification / unbinding process, which usually needs account info and a security check — more of a hassle. This is why
the security setup guide keeps stressing copying down the backup key when binding.
Where do I find official live support / help?
Find the "Help Center / Live Support" entry inside the OKX app or on okx.com. Remember: official support won't DM you and won't ask for your password, verification code, or seed phrase. Anyone proactively adding you and asking for these is a scammer.
04Other
Can minors register?
No. Exchanges require users to be of legal age (usually 18+), and KYC verifies the age on your ID — minors can't pass.
After registering, what's the first thing to do?
Do
account security first: turn on 2FA with Google Authenticator and set an anti-phishing code, then complete KYC and deposit. While there's no money in the account yet, spend a few minutes locking it down to save yourself trouble later. Steps in
Post-Sign-Up Security.

To check these answers, we re-ran sign-up with a fresh email: entered the email, tapped send code, and the code reached the inbox in about 20 seconds (it landed in the promotions folder the first time, but was right there once we looked). We set a password, chose a region, opened the invite-code field at the bottom and entered OK2707, and after submitting we were straight into the account home — the whole sign-up took about 90 seconds. We then tried the "forgot password" flow, and resetting via email verification worked fine. It all matched the above — most "can't register" cases are really a delayed code or one sitting in spam, not a problem with the account. Timings per item are subject to your network and the verification queue at the time.
